CAPM exam prep, adaptive plan with ARIA
The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is PMI's entry-level project management cert. 150 questions, 180 minutes, no work-experience requirement, passing bar around sixty-one percent of weighted points. It is the cert that lets you start a PM career or qualify for PMP later, since CAPM itself counts toward the 35 contact hours PMP needs.
What the exam is
CAPM is built on the 2023 Examination Content Outline. Four domains:
| Domain | Weight |
|---|---|
| Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts | 36% |
| Predictive, Plan-Based Methodologies | 17% |
| Agile Frameworks and Methodologies | 20% |
| Business Analysis Frameworks | 27% |
Eligibility is a high school diploma or equivalent and 23 contact hours of project management education, which the prep itself covers.
How ARIA preps you for it
A 15-to-25-question CAT eval converges on your real per-domain skill, then the roadmap weights phases to your weakest domain. CAPM candidates almost always land light on Agile Frameworks and Business Analysis because most textbooks skew predictive. ARIA inverts that, drilling agile vocabulary and business-analysis artifacts until both feel natural under exam time pressure.
The error backlog tags every miss by trap pattern (vocab confusion between predictive and agile, framework misidentification, BA artifact gaps) and returns the items at widening intervals.
Common pitfalls on this cert
Treating CAPM as PMP-lite. It is not. CAPM tests recognition of frameworks; PMP tests situational judgement. CAPM stems are cleaner, distractors are more obvious. Studying PMP material for CAPM wastes weeks.
Skipping Business Analysis. Twenty-seven percent weight, often skipped because the chapter feels dry. The points are easy if you read it.
Confusing predictive and agile vocab. CAPM stems sometimes mix terms from both methods inside one question. The backlog tracks vocab confusion separately from concept gaps so the right driver is corrected.
CAPM to PMP path
CAPM covers PMI's 35 contact hour requirement for PMP. If your end goal is PMP, sit CAPM first, work toward the PMP experience requirement, then return for PMP. ClaudeLab carries your error history forward when you switch active certs, so the agile vocab you fixed for CAPM does not get re-learned from scratch.
The pass guarantee
Five measured conditions, full refund if you complete the roadmap, sit CAPM inside the 60-day window, and do not pass on the first attempt.
