PRINCE2 Foundation (7th Edition) prep, adaptive plan with ARIA
PRINCE2 Foundation is the entry-level project management certification from Axelos, now run by PeopleCert. It dominates hiring in the UK, the EU, and the wider Commonwealth. The exam runs 60 minutes, 60 multiple-choice questions, with a passing mark of 33 out of 60 (55 percent). It is taken online with a proctor. There are no prerequisites. PRINCE2 sits alongside PMP globally, but in UK and European public-sector and large-enterprise hiring, it is the more-asked-for credential.
What the exam is
The current version is PRINCE2 7th Edition, refreshed in 2023. Make sure your prep material is dated 2023 or later, because 6th Edition books miss the tailoring updates that the new exam tests.

How ARIA preps you for it
ARIA opens with a CAT evaluation that lands a per-area skill estimate. Most candidates land heavy on Themes and Processes, because the 7-7-7 structure is memorization-heavy and the cross-references (which themes apply to which processes) are not intuitive. Your roadmap is weighted to those gaps. The error backlog tags every miss by structural element (principle vs theme vs process vs product), so vocabulary confusion gets corrected separately from concept gaps.
Common pitfalls
- Studying 6th Edition material in 2026. PeopleCert refreshed PRINCE2 to 7th Edition in 2023. Books and courses dated before then miss tailoring rules and updated terminology that the exam now tests.
- Confusing PRINCE2 Foundation with PMP. Different frameworks, different vocabulary, different exam shape. PRINCE2 is method-focused (tailoring a defined framework). PMP is situational-judgment-focused. Studying one for the other wastes time.
- Underestimating Management Products. The 26 management products (project brief, business case, end-stage report, and so on) are vocabulary-heavy. Easy points if you read the chapter, zero points if you skip it.
Foundation to Practitioner path
